Process/Pipeline Design

Arrow Material Services

Belpre, Ohio

EA completed the design, construction and startup of a condensate transloading/stabilization plant in Belpre, Ohio. EA handled all aspects of this project from mechanical, electrical and controls, structural, and civil through construction management and commissioning. The design included truck loading and offloading capabilities, repurposing the existing styrene storage tanks, Y-grade separation, condensate stabilization, pumping systems, automation and controls, safety and relief systems, flare and barge loading system including a floating dock, dock safety skid, and river cell. Major equipment included skidded stabilizer units, Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) units, vapor combustion unit, flare, tanks, variable frequency drive (VFDs), and operator interface locally and remotely.

Discharge Pipeline, Turquoise Ridge

Winnemucca, Nevada

EA was responsible for the design of the discharge line for a proposed water treatment plant at the operating Turquoise Ridge mine. The project completed all permitting and design including hydraulic grade lines, plan and profile development, and an energy dissipating structure that was designed within the pipe to handle the high energy gradients resulting from the elevation head loss in the second half of the pipe.

Styrene to Condensate Pipeline Repurpose

Arrow Material Services, Belpre, Ohio

EA provided the design, hydraulic calculations, and construction management for the repurposing of an existing pipeline that had previously been used as part of a styrene transport system. The final service was as a pipeline for stabilized condensate. The design included removal of residual styrene, pipe cleaning, video inspection, pressure and integrity tests as well as lab testing of first product runs to ensure no remaining contamination.

Tank Farm Design

Suncor Energy, Guernsey, Wyoming

EA designed the site grading, roads, oil containment system, and foundation and structural steel for the pipe support system for a tank farm with total capacity of 900,000 barrels. EA also conducted the geotechnical investigation and provided bidding and contract administration services, foundation inspections during construction, and all QC materials testing.

Soil Remediation and Salt Water Injection Facility

Confidential Client, Burke County, North Dakota

After a salt water facility was severely damaged by fire in Burke County, North Dakota, the site required environmental remediation prior to being brought back on-line. Contaminated and destroyed equipment was removed from the facility and samples were collected to determine the degree and extent of contamination. Site cleanup was hampered by inadequate site drainage which resulted in large quantities of contaminated stormwater that had to be handled and disposed. EA prepared engineering plans and specifications to remediate the site based on its industrial use. The plans also improved site drainage, and addressed protection of nearby wetlands.
