Dan is the Vice President of the Southwest Region at MacKay where he is responsible for leading regional strategy, operations, and client engagement. In this role, Dan oversees key projects and initiatives across the Southwest, ensuring the highest standards of performance, service, and growth. With more than 40 years of leadership experience in engineering consulting, Dan has a proven record of advancing organizational objectives through strategic planning, business development, and operational excellence. Prior to joining MacKay, he was the President of Engineering Analytics, Inc., where he successfully directed multi-state operations and cultivated long-term client partnerships. Dan is committed to fostering innovation, strengthening client relationships, and advancing MacKay’s mission to deliver exceptional solutions across the Southwest Region.
As the Principal Geotechnical Engineer for EA, he has over 40 years of geotechnical and reclamation engineering experience on a diversity of projects. He has been the project manager for the design, operation, and closure of several uranium mill tailings storage facilities. He has designed geotechnical monitoring systems for tailings impoundments, earth fill dams, open pits, and waste rock piles and served as the project engineer or project manager for the design of heap leach pads, process solution ponds, and waste rock disposal sites. Technical specialties include cover design, tailings consolidation, seepage and groundwater analyses, stability analyses, infiltration modeling, developing grading plans, and determining quantities and costs. He is a Diplomate of Geotechnical Engineering, Fellow of ASCE and is a Facility Affiliate at Colorado State University, having served on various thesis and dissertation committees, and is the Past Committee Chair of the Tailings and Mine Waste Conference. Dan has served as the Project Engineer or Project Manager for expansive soils design, forensic studies, commercial and mid-rise buildings, public works projects, residential and master planned communities, and geotechnical instrumentation. Dan has written approximately 50 technical papers addressing multiple aspects of geotechnical engineering and is a co-author of the text book titled “Foundation Engineering for Expansive Soils”.
Dan enjoys spending his free time with his wife, children and grand-children, and helping his wife with her farm. Dan is also enthusiastic about outdoor activities, he enjoys fishing, hiking, hunting and skiing.

Erik serves as Chief Operating Officer, providing executive leadership and oversight of the company’s operational strategy and performance. In this role, he is responsible for aligning business functions with organizational objectives, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services across all divisions. With more than 40 years of experience ranging from Staff Engineer to Senior Leadership, Erik has successfully guided complex operations, implemented process innovations, and fostered a culture of excellence and accountability. His expertise spans organizational management, strategic planning, and operational integration, contributing to sustainable growth and long-term success. Erik also maintains a good understanding of engineering principles and design capabilities spanning many different disciplines of engineering. Erik is recognized for his ability to lead with vision, cultivate strong teams, and drive operational excellence in support of the company’s mission and clients.
Erik has over 35 years of experience in geotechnical and civil engineering, site assessment, remediation system design, construction, and operation, and process design engineering. He has provided construction oversight for large-scale grading projects at industrial, commercial, and residential sites. He has designed pavements at single family and multifamily developments, commercial sites, industrial facilities and municipal roadways. He has developed grading plans for the repair of drainage at single and multifamily residential properties, and for new construction of municipal buildings. He has designed and tested deep foundations for single and multi-family residential structures, multi-story buildings and grain elevators. He has also designed water retention dams and tailings dams for coal, uranium, and copper mine tailings. Projects have involved the excavation and placement of up to 44 million cubic yards of soil and the stabilization of large landslide complexes.
Erik has prepared storm water management plans and designed storm water handling facilities. He has performed storm water runoff calculations for mining properties, nurseries, landfills, and other industrial properties. He has prepared remedial investigations and feasibility studies, and been responsible for the design, construction and operation of remediation systems for the treatment of soil and groundwater contamination. Additionally, he has provided construction management services for the construction of large-scale remediation systems.
Erik is an avid martial arts student and instructor of Bujinkan Ninjutsu and Iaido. He is also an avid outdoorsman and enjoys big game hunting, skiing, kayaking, rock climbing, climbing 14ers, fishing and working on his Jeep. He also has a passion for growing and cooking with Green Chilis.

Jason has experience in geotechnical engineering pertaining to mine site remediation, construction defect litigation, retaining wall design and repair, field investigations, and quality assurance and quality control oversight relating to geotechnical and environmental projects. He has served as a senior engineer and project manager for many mining design and reclamation projects, construction defect litigation projects, and civil engineering projects. His areas of expertise include site investigation and characterization, feasibility investigations, engineering investigations, development of remediation alternatives, implementation of remedial design, and construction oversight. Jason has performed geotechnical engineering and environmental investigations for forensic, mining, and public works projects throughout the United States, South America, and Canada.
Jason enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He has a knack for home improvement projects and finds himself dividing his spare time between said improvement projects and participating in his children’s events. He is active in his church. He also enjoys running, cycling and camping.

Brown has 18 years of experience in the design, project management and construction oversight involving the successful construction and rehabilitation of 25+ jurisdictional dams in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. Brown’s responsibilities for these projects includes: aiding the client in the procurement of funds, lead design engineer, engineering analysis (including seepage, hydraulic, hydrologic, structural, pipe design, and geotechnical analyses), construction permitting, development of construction drawings and specifications, and construction oversight. Brown also has experience in geotechnical analysis, storm water management, and water balance studies for mine sites in the Western United States, Australia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan.
Brown enjoys skiing with his wife and children. He is an active member in his church, coaches boys soccer in his spare time, and somehow still manages to carve out time to train and compete in marathons across the U.S.

As a licensed Civil Engineer, Karen is primarily experienced in Water Resources and General Civil, with various project roles, such as Project Engineer, Project Manager, Program Manager and Principal. Over her 30 years of experience, Karen has provided planning, design and construction phase engineering services to a wide variety of public and private clients. Her latest projects include improvements to the Raton water treatment and Cimarron River water diversion plants; various municipal road, storm drain, and site civil projects; Lake Dorothy Dam and Miami Lake Dam rehabilitation projects; sanitary sewer lift station replacement; monitoring wells and geotechnical investigations; grout injection for foundation stabilization for the historic St. Vrain Mill; municipal water main and commercial water tank replacements; and Cimarron River bank stabilization.
Her hydrology experience includes rural and urban conditions, gaged streams, Unit Hydrograph Method, USGS Regression Equations, Simplified Peak Flow Method, Rational Method, and Arid-lands Hydrologic Model (AHYMO). Karen is experienced in riverine modeling and hydraulics of culverts, storm drain systems, bridges, storm water storage and water quality facilities, levees, grade control or drop structures, sediment traps, and erosion protection. Karen has also submitted applications for 404 Permits and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permits. Karen has experience evaluating and modifying a Storm Water Management Program in order to comply with the US EPA NPDES Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit.

Chris has over 35 years of professional experience in hydrogeology. His current professional responsibilities include program management, planning, and supervision of multitask contaminated site assessment and cleanup. He has provided vapor intrusion assessment and mitigation; emergent compound evaluations, including Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS); development of numerical models/hydrogeologic characterization; pilot testing and implementation of in situ and ex situ remediation programs. He has prepared feasibility studies/evaluations and remedial design documents; evaluation and optimization of soil and groundwater remediation systems. Chris has participated in technical review panels and has provided peer review; regulatory negotiations and cleanup goal development. He has also provided cost forecasting and risk management; groundwater sustainability, basin water quality management, non-potable water reuse, and stormwater assessment and management. His areas of specialization include interpretation and evaluation of contamination and emergent compound transport in the subsurface, vapor intrusion evaluations, preparation and evaluation of Conceptual Site Models (CSMs), design and implementation of Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) and Remedial Design/Remedial Action (RD/RA). Additionally, Chris has specialized in optimization of soil and groundwater remediation systems, identification of opportunities and risks to short- and long-term plans, protection of municipal supply wells, regulatory negotiations, litigation support, and expert witness testimony.

Garcia is a registered professional geologist with over 17 years of consulting experience for slope stability, mining and environmental, foundation and site remediation, and forensic investigation projects. She has served as an engineering geologist or project manager for projects involving mine site investigation and remediation, slope stability, foundation remediation, construction defect litigation, and retaining wall design and repair. She has performed numerous site investigation and characterization projects including drilling borings, installation/monitoring of geotechnical and water monitoring instrumentation, geologic mapping, level surveying of slopes/retaining structures and foundation movement, retaining wall investigation, and well pumping and sampling. Her experience also includes technical analyses related to slope stability and landslides, expansive soils and bedrock, collapsing/consolidating soils, seismic hazard analyses, foundation remediation, and environmental due diligence for natural gas wells. She has worked on projects to develop remediation alternatives for mine site closure, landslide stabilization, and foundation remediation.

Durrant is a Chemical Engineer and serves as the Power and Energy Market Sector Lead at Engineering Analytics, Inc. With over 26 years of industry experience, he brings extensive expertise in planning, process design, project management, and equipment development for industrial water and wastewater systems. Throughout his career, Durrant has led the full lifecycle of water infrastructure projects—from planning and permitting, to construction, commissioning, and operator training. Notably, he managed the water engineering department for an unconventional oil and gas company, where he oversaw water infrastructure development across four Rocky Mountain basins. In this role, he directed master planning efforts, water supply forecasting, recycled water modeling, and disposal strategies, aligning them with the company’s drilling schedule to ensure reliable water availability. Durrant has managed, designed, and/or consulted on more than 130 water and wastewater systems and has commissioned and trained operators on the majority of them. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, and holds certification as a Lean Professional.
Durrant enjoys fly fishing, camping, cycling, and hiking with his wife and daughter. He’s an avid outdoorsman and can be found in the mountains enjoying nature nearly every weekend. Chris is always excited about taking on new challenges such as teaching engineering for the UC Davis Master Brewers Program and newly learning the guitar.
