Engineering Analytics staff designed, managed construction, and assisted in start-up of a new 3.41 m3/min water treatment plant on the Con Mine site located in Yellowknife, NT for Newmont Mining Company. The plant is used to treat surface water that is impounded within a pond at the mine. The plant design consisted of a raw water pump, raw water pipeline, reaction basins, circular clarifier, filter basins, clearwell, effluent pump, effluent storage tank, and process piping. The reaction basins, filter basins, and clarifier are reinforced concrete located above grade. The effluent from the plant discharges to the environment through a discharge pipeline to a designated point of compliance. In addition to the primary treatment processes, ancillary facilities constructed and installed include a backwash system, backwash storage tank, chemical feed systems, chemical feed building, chemical storage tanks, non-potable water tank, sludge storage, electrical power systems, process instrumentation, and controls.
