EA can also assist in negotiating the construction cost with the contractor. EA staff have experience with transportation projects for various clients including state transportation departments, Federal Highway Administration, municipalities, and developers. EA also has experience working with clients on funding applications to acquire adequate state or federal funding for projects.
Streets and Drainage
EA has designed, planned, and provided construction oversight on many roadway and drainage improvement projects over the last few decades. EA’s work has included road paving, retrofitting roads for ADA-compliance, adding bike lanes, conducting traffic safety assessments, and implementing traffic safety improvements. EA professionals have also used their hydrologic and hydraulic expertise to complete numerous projects to improve storm drainage and culvert designs, enhance site grading, and inspect bridges and other major structures.
Pavement Design
EA’s extensive experience in soil characterization through site inspection and lab testing is the cornerstone of our ability to select the most cost effective and durable pavement materials that are suitable for your local area. EA’s designs follow all local, state, and federal design requirements and we are experts in treating problematic subgrade material, such as expansive, collapsible or saturated clays. EA also has experience in designing decorative concrete pavement sections for use in historic areas or in defining pedestrian zones.
Roadway Rehabilitation
EA performs field investigations and pavement coring to design corrective measures for failures involving inadequate pavement materials or workmanship, unstable cut or fill areas, poor compaction of subgrade or fill embankments, slope instability, and geologic hazards, such as rockfalls, collapsible soils, expansive soils, ettringite, and debris flows. EA has overseen repairs involving milling/overlay, pavement fabric, removal and replacement of pavement, excavation and replacement with controlled fill material, slope stabilization, and construction of diversion structures.
